Paramjit Ahluwalia of Garden Court Chambers, together with Angela Rafferty QC of the Criminal Bar Association, prepared a supplementary briefing on the need for a new defence  and the difficulties with the current construction of duress and how it fails to take into account the complex dynamics and effects of domestic violence and abuse.

Their briefing is summarised in Section 6 of the report: "There's a reason we're in trouble" - Domestic abuse as a driver to women's offending.

Paramjit Ahluwalia is a member of the Garden Court Chambers Crime Team and regularly practices and writes in the field of trafficking, Modern Slavery, exploitation and immigration crime.
