Defendant acquitted at trial of s.18 (causing grievous bodily harm with intent) and of possession of a bladed article and sentenced on s.20 on the basis of excessive self-defence. The victim was stabbed 7 times with a weapon.

Defence expert reports concerning forensics evidence (DNA) and phone evidence were crucial in securing the acquittal.
