The defendant, a mother with joint custody (the child resided abroad), had a history of vulnerabilities, evidenced in medical evidence obtained from her home country.

She was sentenced in the Crown Court to immediate custody. On appeal, heard 21 days later, custody was suspended.

The defendant was represented by Lucie Wibberley of the Garden Court Chambers Crime Team, instructed by Sean Richards and Aidan Hanna of TV Edwards Solicitors.
