Michael Goold represented the defendant, an anti-hunting campaigner, who had been convicted of perverting the course of justice for falsely relying on edited video footage in a complaint of an assault he received whilst monitoring a hunt. The defendant received a suspended sentence which was then the subject of an application by the Solicitor General that the sentence was unduly lenient. The Court of Appeal upheld the sentence, noting that it was an exceptional case.
