Qasim Gujar was acquitted after a six week trial at Southwark Crown Court of conspiracy to cheat HM Revenue and Customs.

The allegation related to a very large MTIC fraud involving a loss to the revenue of £34m. Gujar was a company director who ran a buffer company, through the accounts of which nearly £100m was laundered. Gujar did not give evidence and was acquitted.
