Icah Peart KC, leading Jessie Smith, secured a unanimous acquittal following a two-week trial at Maidstone Crown Court. The jury returned their verdict in a short 35 minutes.

The defendant, DD, was charged with perverting the course of justice following the murder of SP in Kent. DD was alleged to have assisted her boyfriend - the primary murder suspect - to evade arrest. DD was a survivor of domestic violence. She had been shot by her boyfriend in the lead up to the murder, and endured months of verbal and psychological abuse.
