A woman accused of beating her children over a lengthy period has been acquitted of three counts of child cruelty and one count of actual bodily harm in the case of R v H.

Following a six day trial, the jury returned unanimous not guilty verdicts in 20 minutes at Harrow Crown Court on 3 November 2015. It was the defence case that the children were encouraged by their father to make allegations after an acrimonious separation and that the police investigation was flawed.

Numerous witnesses testified on behalf of the defendant including au pairs, baby-sitters and work colleagues.
