Although the criminal proceedings resulted in a conviction for murder, there are matters that the family want considered at the inquest in relation to National Probation Service’s involvement in the supervision of Mr Deakin prior to the tragic incident that lead to Michael Hoolickin’s death.

His parents, Garry and Lesley, said on behalf of the family,

“We have a number of questions we want answers to and we hope that we will get answers to those questions during the inquest process. We want to make sure that any lessons that need to be learned are learned so that no other family has to go through this. We won’t be making any further comment at this time.”

The family is represented by Una Morris of the Garden Court Chambers Civil Liberties team. She is instructed by Kelly Darlington of Farleys Solicitors LLP.

The criminal proceedings on this case received widespread media attention.
