Garden Court Chambers successfully launched Garden Court International - a specialist International Advice and Litigation Team - on 5 November 2010.

Held at the LSE, the launch saw a very strong turnout from a wide range of solicitors involved in international work, as well as senior representatives of international and domestic NGOs.

Owen Davies QC and Richard Harvey, Head of Garden Court International gave a brief outline of the scope of services Garden Court International will offer to international agencies, governments, NGOs and corporate and individual clients.

Three inspiring speakers then gave welcoming addresses. Widney Brown, Senior Director of Law and International Policy at Amnesty International spoke of the lack of access to justice for four billion people around the globe and the associated widespread denials of human rights. Sarah Burton, Program Director at Greenpeace International and Jasper Teulings, General Counsel to Greenpeace International then spoke about global threats such as climate change and environmental justice.

All of them applauded the timeliness of Garden Court International's initiative and each looked forward enthusiastically to working with us to create international advice and litigation strategies which can address global threats. There is no shortage of work to be done and Garden Court intends to play a leading role in doing it.
