The defendant was accused of plotting to murder his wife who had abandoned him following his diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease. The prosecution alleged he had entered his estranged wife’s home at 1.30 am in order to beat her and suffocate her to death, before fleeing the country.

After a week long trial before Mrs Justice May DBE, the defendant was acquitted of attempted murder and convicted of wounding with intent. Preparation for trial was complicated by the defendant’s mental state.

Peter Rowlands was instructed by Bilal Tanveer of Morgan Has.
