On 1st January 2015, the defendant Janusz Pletkiewicz, was involved in an argument with a neighbour over noise. It was alleged that the defendant pushed the brother of the neighbour, Keith Nobrega. This push was denied.

Shortly after the incident, Keith Nobrega died of a heart attack. Pathologists said that the push could have been the operative cause of death. However, they also said that the verbal argument beforehand could have also caused the heart attack.

The jury considered the evidence and acquitted Janusz Pletkiewicz on 29 September 2015 of manslaughter after deliberating for two hours.

Janusz Pletkiewicz was represented in court by Keir Monteith of the Garden Court Chambers Crime Team. He was instructed by Rhean Bailey of Goldman Bailey solicitors.
