Grace provides representation and advice in appeals to the Immigration and Asylum Chamber (first-tier and upper-tier tribunals) and in related judicial review claims.
Grace acts in all areas of immigration and asylum law including the Refugee Convention, the European Convention on Human Rights, European Economic Area law, nationality law, detention and bail, removal and deportation, and the Immigration Rules (including entry clearance).
Grace represents parents in appeals to the Special Education and Disability Tribunal in matters involving special educational provision and disability discrimination. Grace has advised on education cases involving appeals to the Upper Tribunal and judicial review. She also has experience of drafting complaints to the office of the Independent Adjudicator and advising on judicial review challenges of higher education institutions.
Grace acts on a pro bono basis in bail hearings and in appeals against deportation based on Article 8 ECHR, including Nexus appeals.
She represents parents in appeals to the Special Education and Disability Tribunal on a pro bono basis and also represents children excluded from school at Independent Appeal Panel hearings.
Grace has undertaken pro bono work for organisations such as Bail for Immigration Detainees and Just for Kids Law.
Prior to commencing pupillage, Grace was a legal fellow at the Refugee Advocacy and Support Programme of the Turkish Helsinki Committee. She also undertook a grant-funded placement at Hammersmith and Fulham Community Law Centre, during which she provided representation in a wide range of immigration and asylum matters. Grace completed a Legal Protection internship at the United Nations High Commission for Refugees in London.
Grace is a trustee of Young Roots, a charity that provides social and educational opportunities for young migrants and refugees in London, Lebanon and Nepal.
Grace is a contributor to the Free Movement and UKSC blogs. She is also part of a team at Garden Court Chambers that produces the Legal Action Group's regular immigration law update.
