Following what is believed to have been one of the first prosecutions of an alleged anarchist under modern terrorism legislation in the UK, Not Guilty verdicts have been recorded in relation to four terrorism charges against Toby Shone after the prosecution offered no evidence in respect of the allegations shortly before trial.

Mr Shone had been charged with disseminating terrorist publications, fundraising for terrorist purposes, and two counts of possessing information likely to be useful to a terrorist under the Terrorism Acts of 2000 and 2006.

Mr Shone pleaded guilty to various psychedelic drug offences and was sentenced to three years and nine months imprisonment.

Further details of the case are reported here in the Independent.
