Public Access Team Administrator

Garden Court Chambers is a large and dynamic Barristers' Chambers with a team of staff who provide the clerking, financial, marketing and administrative support for over 200 barristers.

We are a diverse set, specialising in all aspects of human rights and social welfare law, including crime, family law, housing, immigration, and civil law. We are based in a Grade 1 listed building in Lincoln's Inn Fields, close to Holborn tube station and a range of shops, bars and restaurants.

We are looking to recruit a conscientious and hardworking Public Access Administrator in our Public Access team.

We are looking to recruit a conscientious and hardworking Public Access Administrator in our Public Access team. 

Reporting to: Public Access Team Solicitor

  • Undertaking all administration tasks in respect of Public Access cases, including the financial aspects in terms of billing and collection
  • Following the process highlighted in the Public Access Checklist (part of the Clerking Manual) at all times when dealing with Administration of Public Access cases, including:
  • Drafting Client Care Letters based on instructions by the DA Team Solicitor
  • Liaising with barristers in finalising Client Care Letters
  • Undertaking all necessary checks such as ID checks and money laundering legislation compliance
  • Liaising with clients in relation to CCLs and payments
     

Person Specification

This role would be suitable for someone with experience in clerking, or a recent graduate.

Essential

  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Good IT skills (including Word and Excel)
  • Good client skills including excellent telephone manner
     

Salary, Benefits and Terms and Conditions

  • This position attracts a salary of £25,000 pa
  • Hours: 09:30-18:00 or 9.00-17.30 Monday-Friday with one hour for lunch (currently working from home)
  • Holidays: 25 days per annum pro rata (excluding bank holidays but including three days between Christmas and New Year)
  • Interest-free loan for travel card (after probation)
  • Pension, including a 5% employer's contribution after six months, and income-protection schemes
