Garden Court Chambers is a large and dynamic set of barristers' Chambers. We also have a loyal and dynamic staff team who provide the clerking and practice management, financial, marketing and administrative support to over 190 barristers. We are a multi-disciplinary set, specialising in all aspects of human rights and civil liberties work  including crime, family, housing, immigration, and public law. We are currently based in a Grade 1 listed building in Lincoln's Inn Fields, close to Holborn tube station and a range of shops, bars and restaurants.

We now have a vacancy within the Civil Liberties and Human Rights Team for a Civil Liberties Practice Manager.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and conscientious person to head up, support and develop our small Civil Liberties and Human Rights Practice Team. S/he will line-manage the deputy practice manager. The candidate will preferably have experience in publicly funded work and in particular in  private law claims against public bodies (including the police, prison service and Home Office), Inquests and Public Inquiries in either a solicitor’s firm or within a barristers’ chambers, although this is not essential. This role will suit a confident, dynamic and proactive individual with a good understanding of the relevant areas of law and funding schemes, who will be expected to support our barristers and maintain links with our existing solicitor and other client base as well as forge new and wider links.

This position attracts a salary of £45,000 pa, plus a range of staff benefits, including a pension.
Hours: 9.00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday, with one hour for lunch
Holidays: 25 days per annum (plus bank holidays)
