David Emanuel of the Garden Court Crime Team was instructed on behalf of the Defendant by Edward Brown of Carson Kaye Solicitors.
On 7th November at the Central Criminal Court, David successfully applied to vacate the plea of a Defendant who had pleaded guilty to attempted murder. David, who was brought into the case after the guilty plea, persuaded the Judge that a combination of the Defendant’s then-undiagnosed mental illness and his previous counsel’s inability to meet him in person for a full consultation meant the plea should, unusually, be treated as equivocal.
