This seminar is designed to provide non-lawyer's with a guide to using litigation as a tool in campaigning.

Many NGOs and charities have successfully used litigation to raise awareness about important issues or achieve a positive outcome for their constituencies. The purpose of this seminar is to equip third sector professionals with a lawyer's toolkit when planning campaigns.

The seminar will cover:

• When and against whom can legal proceedings be brought? In other words, can you start civil, criminal or judicial review proceedings?
• How to fund your litigation
• How to get (free) legal advice
• Pitfalls to avoid in litigation, such as limitation periods and gathering key evidence
• Remedies: what can you actually get from the courts?

The seminar will most benefit non-lawyers in the third sector who wish to learn about adding litigation to their campaigning strategy.
