CHALLENGING MISCONDUCT IN IMMIGRATION DETENTION

A series of training seminars for lawyers and caseworkers supported by:
ILPA, PAS, PALG

The course is designed and run by members of CAFID (Civil Actions Arising From Immigration Detention) including lawyers from Bhatt Muphy, Birnberg Peirce, Tooks Chambers and Garden Court Chambers

As the Home Office continues to increase the use of immigration detention and enforced removal for 'failed asylum seekers' and others, reports of abuse, illegality and procedural impropriety are on the increase. More lawyers and caseworkers are needed to help challenge shameful practices and hold those responsible to account.

Those with experience in immigration and asylum, prison law or civil actions against the police may find that attending one or more of these seminars may help them consider taking up cases to support this increasingly disenfranchised group of clients.

  • Public Funding
  • An overview of the steps to be taken in a civil action for damages
