Michael Goold represented the defendant charged with perverting the course of justice in relation to a murder investigation. The deceased was shot dead in an alleged gang-related attack in Wood Green, North London in July 2022.

The defendant was accused of being part of a group of eight individuals who disposed of and then burnt out a Range Rover used in the shooting in the hours after the killing.

The defendant was seen on CCTV driving to the location of the burning with two individuals who accepted setting fire to the Range Rover. The prosecution also relied on evidence showing that the defendant booked flights to Somalia immediately after the offence and left the country two days later, remaining at large for several months.

The defendant was acquitted after a seven-week trial at Harrow Crown Court.
