Pupillage

Applications, shortlisting and interviews
We ask applicants to apply to Garden Court through thePupillage Gateway scheme administered by the Bar Council. We aim to notify those who have been shortlisted for interview as soon as possible after the closing date. The opening date for Pupillage Gateway in 2013 (for Pupillages beginning October 2014) will be the Monday 1 April 2013. This will remain open for applications until Tuesday 30 April 2013.

If you are selected for interview with Garden Court Chambers, our first round of interviews will take place on Saturday 6 July 2013, followed by second-round interviews on Saturday 13 July 2013.

If a vacancy unexpectedly becomes available it will be advertised on the Bar Council and Chambers' website, in Counsel and often in Legal Action Journal. The procedures for submitting an application in those circumstances will be clearly outlined.

Each applicant will intially be assessed against our selection criteria by at least two people. Successful applicants will be shortlisted for a first round interview and all applicants will be asked the same questions and marked on the same basis. The second round interview will include a short advocacy exercise. We will keep written records of the decision-making and interview stage.

Please note that the closing date for applications through the summer season of Pupillage Gateway is final and we will not consider any applications received after this date.
