Practice

Valerie practises in all areas of immigration law, in front of Adjudicators, the tribunal and the High Court. She additionally practises within nationality law.

Valerie is a member of the Immigration Law Practitioners' Association and has run training courses and workshops in relation to asylum and other areas of immigration. She has a particular interest in Turkish cases, and same sex relationships.

Covering the full range of civil work, she specialises in environmental law including nuisance, toxic torts, actions relating to pollution and planning. In addition, she has expertise in judicial review, consumer credit, discrimination law and all aspects of employment law, civil actions against the police, personal injury and medical negligence and inquests. As a civil practitioner she pursues professional negligence cases in the immigration field and judicial review in relation to entitlement to benefits of asylum seekers. She is a Middle Temple scholar.

Publications

Articles published on toxic torts and nuisance law, various scientific papers, and is a contributor to New Law Journal and other periodicals on environmental matters.

Administrative Law Bar Association, Environmental Law Foundation, Immigration Law Practitioners' Association, fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, and United Kingdom Environmental Law Association.

Other activities

Lectured and tutored in law at South Bank University.
