PracticeSam practices solely in family law. His work is mainly public law based but includes some private law and ancillary relief. Sam believes that client care is of fundamental importance and understands that clients involved in family cases may be experiencing one of the most difficult and stressful periods of their lives. In this respect he feels that it is important to adopt a sympathetic approach so that clients feel reassured that their representation is empathetic with their wishes. He feels that this must be balanced with strong and realistic advice so that clients are prepared, as much as possible, for the likely outcome of proceedings. Sam has a particular interest in representing clients from ethnic minorities. He is very aware of the need for courts to appreciate that ethnic minorities often have different cultural and social values within the family context. Sam also has a developing interest in child and human trafficking cases.
BackgroundSam first studied family law at university. He became interested in how family law was attempting to deal with the emotional and financial consequences of breakdowns in family relationships. He continued his interest at Bar School and did a mainly family pupillage.
