Ravinder started out with a mixed practise in crime and family law, for the last 20 years she has specialised in representing parents and children in care proceedings.
Ravinder's practise consists of cases involving physical, emotional and sexual abuse, neglect and alleged non accidental injuries in children.
She prides herself on having empathy and understanding with clients that allows her to present the best possible case on their behalf. She is particularly passionate about a fair and just outcome for her clients. She is sensitive and patient with demanding clients. Her calm manner allows her to build strong and trusting relationships with solicitors and clients. She fights hard on behalf of her clients but remains realistic in terms of her advice and representation.
Ravinder is interested in representing parents and children from ethnic minorities because her own background and experience give her insight into the particular difficulties they face in care proceedings.
Background
After qualifying as a barrister Ravinder did a postgraduate degree specialising in research into the relationship between the police and black community in Britain.
Before practising as a barrister Ravinder worked in an inner city law centre as a case and development worker in immigration law, this involved developing campaign work regarding deportation cases.
Ravinder was the vice -chair of an Asian women's refuge and was on the management committee of a Young Women's Development Project.
She is a Member of the Family Law Bar Association.
