Mary McKeone
PracticeA criminal practitioner who undertakes a substantial quantity of serious cases which include armed robberies, conspiracy, drugs, fraud, animal rights, public order, arson and serious assaults. Mary has appeared as a junior in a number of high profile cases. She is particularly interested in cases with a civil liberties dimension, having formerly worked as a researcher at Liberty. Mary has recently moved to Manchester and now predominantly practises in the North West. She is also a member of the Chambers of Ian Macdonald QC in Manchester. Other activitiesMary has recently returned from a sabbatical in Dublin where she worked for a human rights organisation British Irish Rights Watch/The Irish Council of Civil Liberties. She also conducted research on behalf of the Irish Law Society on the public defender system in Commonwealth countries and assisted in drafting Liberty's third party intervention to the European Court in the case of John Murray v United Kingdom in 1995. She has attended the United Nations Commission for Human Rights in Geneva on behalf of British Irish Rights Watch.
