PracticeJonathan practices in family law with particular emphasis on cases involving children. He has developed expertise in representing children and parents in public law (care) proceedings or complex private law proceedings where there is social services involvement with the family. Jonathan has experience of cases involving non-accidental injuries, concurrent care and criminal proceedings, do not resuscitate orders and proceedings where a young person needs separate representation. Jonathan is approachable and understanding with clients but understands the importance of effective advocacy skills and the need to give clear advice.
BackgroundJonathan qualified as a solicitor in 1988 and has been a member of the Law Society's Children Panel since 1994. He was a founding partner of Wilkinson Pope, a successful niche Family Law practice in Islington. There he specialized in representing parties in cases involving children, particularly in care proceedings. Jonathan regularly represented children and their guardians. He had considerable experience of representing young people either in secure accommodation proceedings or in circumstances where they needed representation separately from their guardian. Jonathan also has considerable experience of represented parents in care proceedings. Hie has regularly worked with vulnerable clients, clients with a history of drug and/or alcohol abuse and, in particular, clients with learning disabilities. As a solicitor, Jonathan had Higher Rights of Audience (Civil) Jonathan has also worked voluntarily for Law Centres and Citizens Advice Bureaux
