Andrew Eaton
PracticeAndrew became a tenant of Garden Court Chambers in November of 2005 after successfully completing his pupillage with us. He has already begun to develop a broad and successful practice in immigration and civil law. He has represented asylum appellants, applicants for immigration bail and entry clearance applicants before the Asylum and Immigration Tribunal. He has also successfully represented clients before the employment and social security tribunals and the asylum support adjudicators and tenants in disrepair actions and possession proceedings in the County Court. Andrew is keen to continue to develop a broad civil and public law practice In particular judicial reviews before the High Court and civil actions against public authorities. Background Before coming to the Bar, Andrew worked as a researcher for the building worker?s union Ucatt. Andrew was also part of the Labour Party's election strategy team for the 1997 election and has worked as a constituency caseworker for Clare Short MP. Whilst studying for the Bar, Andrew volunteered for Lewisham Law Centre as an immigration caseworker. He is also a qualified FRU immigration and employment rep. Andrew is a regular contributor to 'Socialist Lawyer'; the journal of the Haldane Society of Socialist Lawyers. SocietiesAndrew is a member of the Immigration Law Practioners Association (ILPA); the Employment Law Bar Association (ELBA); Amnesty International and the Haldane Society.
