PracticeAs both leading and junior counsel, Adrian has consistently been instructed in a great number of serious and complex cases and is consequently able to draw on a wealth of experience in representing his clients. Examples of such cases include murder, terrorism, money laundering, a large variety of fraud including commercial fraud, SFO cases, major drugs supply and importation cases, firearms offences, human trafficking /people smuggling, confiscation proceedings, armed robbery and rape. In addition to defending numerous criminal confiscation proceedings Adrian is experienced in all other aspects of confiscation and related proceedings. This includes representing defendants and affected third parties in enforcement proceedings in the High Court, such as applications to appoint enforcement receivers, civil recovery proceedings and cash seizures. Adrian practises in the field of asset recovery under Part V Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and has provided CPD accredited lectures on this subject and the role of mediation within it. Asset Recovery Agency Claim [2007] Asset Recovery Agency claim in civil recovery proceedings under POCA; value in excess of £1.5m. Confidential settlement achieved through mediation. "Honeytrap" murder of Shakilus Townsend 7 handed murder where a 17 year old was lured to his death by a girl, where he was beaten and stabbed to death. News story R v Reis Relvas a 7 handed murder at the CCC which concluded in January 2009 R v Robertson Reading Crown Court: Instructed alone Status: Concluded October 2007 Mr Robertson strangled to death a complete stranger in the deceased's front garden, in daylight hours and in the presence the deceased's 2 year old daughter and neighbours. He then dragged the corpse into the deceased's house and waited there with the child until the arrived. Mr Robertson was charged with murder. Following initial disagreements between experts the Crown accepted a plea to manslaughter and Mr Robertson was dealt with by an Order under the Mental Health Act. R v Patterson Nottingham Crown Court Instructed as junior to Courtenay Griffiths QC. Appeal against sentence reported at R v Patterson [2008] EWCA Crim 1080. Tariff for murder reduced in respect of 16 year old defendant. Mr Patterson was 16 at the time of the incident in which he accepted stabbing a middle aged in the chest in daylight hours in Nottingham City Centre, apparently because the deceased had bumped into him. A plea of guilty to manslaughter was rejected by the Crown. R v Ahmet and others [2007-2008] Woolwich Crown Court Instructed as Junior to Henry Blaxland QC. Mr Ahmet was alleged to be the "Emir" to a group of men involved in attending "terror training" camps in the UK. First ever prosecution under s.1 Terrorism Act 2006.
