Practice

Abigail has a busy and varied practice in all areas of crime with particular expertise in serious sexual offences, fraud and corporate crime. She works hard to achieve the best possible result for her clients and to provide accurate and reliable legal advice. She is able to provide companies with advice on the Bribery Act 2010 and will look at the individual needs of a company in meticulous detail. She further advises in areas of international law with particular emphasis on human rights violations, having spent three months in Fiji advising on the legality of the military coup. Abigail has defended in cases of attempted murder, rape, conspiracy to supply firearms, conspiracy to rob and corporate regulatory violations. She appears regularly in military courts representing individuals in Courts martial as well as civilian courts. Abigail also represents individuals or families at inquest hearings, particularly those involving deaths in custody.

Notable Cases

R v Hylton
Attempted murder reduced to s.18 GBH.

R v Kaygisiz
Conspiracy to supply firearms and ammunition in a commercial supply. Conviction overturned on appeal.

R v Davis
Eight counts of rape and indecent assault resulting in acquittal. One count of indecent assault resulting in conviction and community order.

R v Pacquette
Five counts of rape and indecent assault made against a defendant with an IQ of 60. Acquitted on all counts.

R v Oughton
Nine-handed conspiracy to rob cash in transit. Second on the indictment. Hung jury at first trial and convicted on re-trial.

LBWC v CBLV
Corporate crime. Construction regulations violated. Minimal fine passed.

R v Stroud
Company fraud. Director prosecuted. Acquitted on majority of counts.

R v Monaghan & Ors
Nine-handed case defending protestors of the tax cuts. A detailed analysis with expert evidence on tax avoidance and government policy.
